It was also my dog, Mya’s “rookie” season, and she did awesome. It was a dream of mine to be able to hunt next to her. Thank you all so much at CDL Retriever Trainers, it wouldn’t have happened without your help. I am so proud of her. She loves her new job and loved putting a corn cob in all of your blinds! Thanks for being so nice to her. I enjoyed seeing all the wildlife from my field; including a bobcat, an armadillo, possum, coyotes, golden eagles, trumpeter swans, blue heron, deer and lots of mice in the blinds. I did have some reservations about guiding because of my gender. I tried to do my best in some not so great conditions. It’s not the easiest thing to do at times. I learned a lot and loved guiding. Overall, I didn’t have too many issues in my field, but one that comes to mind is my caller not working when I thought it was my battery. However, after 3 charged batteries and some swearing, it was the faulty caller. I also had to rig a new flag because mine is still sitting somewhere on hwy 240!! LOL Well, I know it wasn’t a good morning but thanks for the help to the guys in my field. Sorry you didn’t stick in there with me…. Steve thanks for a great afternoon!! Mya loves those sailers! Thanks to the Cabela guys that were there with me on my 1st day!! I had a blast! I think I laughed the most with the Delaware guys! Say “Hi” to Buddy and thanks for not shitting in my spread. I can’t believe that the Illinois “Jed Clampit” guys fit in my blinds, I even felt very short next to them!! Cal, I can still hear, “Tony…….. about Dave…..” Thanks for “punkin” Tony, he deserved it!!! Thanks for the great food in the field to the Kobel group. Matt, the best part of guiding might have been beating Tony on the last day!!!! Couldn’t have done it without you all!!!! I was also very happy and impressed with all the women hunters we had this year. Connie, Shotgun Sarah, Speckle Belly Sue, Anna, Kate, Erin, Emily, Margit and Page, hopefully more and more women will be able to enjoy snow goose hunting as much as all of you did. I would also like to thank the clients that gave me birds to mount. I ended up with some beautiful birds. Thanks to all of you for hunting on my “rookie” year!!! I can’t wait to see you next year. I would like to share my memories of my “rookie” season of snow goose hunting with Tony. My experience was very interesting at the least. I met a lot of very unique people. I also laughed a lot!! Sometimes with you and sometimes at you!!! I was very grateful for Tony to give me an opportunity to do what I love and that is hunt. I also like spending time with good people that share the same passion. Tony definitely has some great clients that are very loyal. We hunted in some cold and wet conditions with little complaining. It was very interesting how the groups varied in how they like the shot called. Definitely helps to know your clients. |
